平静的祷告

Karl Paul Reinhold Niebuhr卡尔 保罗 莱因霍尔德 尼布尔（1892年6月21日至1971年6月1日)是一名美国基督教神学家,以研究现代政治和外交手段的现实与基督教信仰之关系而闻名。我很喜欢他在1940年代写的一篇叫《平静的祷告》（The Serenity Prayer）的祷告文，看了一些中文翻译稿，觉得它们翻得不是很准确，所以自己试着把英文原文翻译如下：

The Serenity Prayer                                平静的祷告

God, give me grace to accept with serenity         神啊，请赐我恩典去泰然接受
the things that cannot be changed,                 那所不能之改变
courage to change the things                       赐我勇气去改变
which should be changed,                           那所应该之改变
and the wisdom to distinguish                      更赐我智慧去明辨
the one from the other.                                         那两者孰此孰彼的分别

Living one day at a time,                          活在当下的每一天
Enjoying one moment at a time,                     享受当下的每一刻
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,          把困苦当作通向安宁的路
Taking, as Jesus did,                                                        如基督耶稣一样
This sinful world as it is,                                                 坦然承受这罪孽的世界
Not as I would have it,                                                    按其现实本相，而非随我所愿
Trusting that You will make all things right,          相信神，凡事您定会归正修直
If I surrender to Your will,                                            我只需单单顺从您的意志
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,              如此，在今生我可满足欢喜

《问题背后的问题》（The Question Behind the Question  by John G. Miller, 2001, Denver Press, ISBN 0-9665832-9-9）一书的作者John G. Miller 约翰米勒把尼布尔的《平静的祷告》改了一下，也很有点意思：

God, give me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change,
the courage to change the one I can,
and the wisdom to know it’s me.

愿神赐我平静，接受我不能改变的人们
愿神赐我勇气，改变我能改变的那人
更愿神赐我智慧，明嘹那人就是我自己
