Ode to the Autumn Breeze 刘禹锡 [唐] By LIU, Yuxi (Tang Dynasty, 772~842 AD)
I recall saying goodbye to you the last time we saw yellow mums blooming. I’ve returned to meet you upon the black cicadas’ calling. Your soughing wakes me up from a deep sleep before the dawn. Only one year in the mirror reveals that my appealing face has gone. When a steed’s hair stands up because of you, it’s time to head for the frontier grasslands. When a harpy eagle opens its squinted eyes because of you, it longs for clouds. My heart, too, longs to float in the endless and blue sky. Despite my illness, I’ll climb the tower with you and hold our souls high.
